Senior running back DeShawn Smith scampered 65 yards for a touchdown on Blackman’s second play from scrimmage. From there, the visiting Blaze were never threatened, coasting to a 41-0 victory over Lincoln County here Friday night at The Pit. The Blaze ground game one-upped last week’s 209-yard rushing performance against Tullahoma, tallying 322 yards in the first half alone. Three Blackman backs finished with at least 80 rushing yards, led by 131 yards on 9 carries by sophomore I’tavious Mathers. Smith finished with 128 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, while quarterback Tyrek Collier threw for a score, ran for a score and finished with 82 yards rushing on just five carries. The offensive line paved the way for 400 rushing yards on 36 carries, an 11.1 per carry average. Not to be outdone, the Blaze defense again brought its A-game. Blackman (2-0) surrendered just 51 yards in the first half and ran their scoreless quarters streak to 10, dating back to last season.
