See the article here: msn.foxsports.com Chris (a graduate of Issaquah High School in Issaquah, WA) caught this pass from quarterback Jason Stiles (14). The camerman was WWU film student Rick Medved, who was in the right place at the right time to capture the catch on film. Interestingly, Medved almost wasn’t at this game, or any other. He had approached me about making a highlight film about the Viking football team in fall camp, but I already had somebody to do the job. Head Coach Rob Smith insisted I give him an opportunity (all it would cost us was a bus seat to our games, anyway). So, Rick was at every game, and in the right place at the right time. Chris won the ESPY in 1992 for ‘College Football Play of the Year’, beating out Antonio Langham (Alabama) and Reggie Brooks (Notre Dame). He played college basketball for the Memphis Tigers. Douglas-Roberts played high school basketball at Cass Technical High School and Northwestern High School. He played for Cass Tech in 2003 and 2004 averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. After the 2004 season he transferred to Northwestern where he saw limited time due to transfer rules and didn’t join the team until the second semester. He finished the season averaging 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Coming out of high school Douglas-Roberts was considered one of the best prospects available, including being ranked the 30th best player by Scout.com and 51st by Rivals.com.
