Here it is people… I don’t think we realized what we were witnessing at the time, but 6′5 Wendell Mckines was one of the SICKEST high school dunkers ever during his time at Richmond High School… Wendell led the state in scoring at over 35 ppg during his senior year in ‘07 and dude dunked more than anyone I’ve ever seen… Dude is now getting things done in his junior year at New Mexico State… Seriously tho, you gotta see this one… YAY AREA’S FINEST
TOURNAMENT (Westview) The Angola varsity volleyball team dominated the Gold pool-play at Westview's volleyball Invitational this Saturday with wins over Wawasee, West Noble and Eastside high schools. Hornet's earned their way to the Championship match facing off with div 4-A powerhouse, Concord high school who bested Glenn, Whitko and Westview. Game#1 of the Championship was won by Angola who was lead by seniors Sam Parrish, outside hitter, Kay Shollenberger, setter and Kendra saylor, defensive specialist. Angola traded blows with Concord in Game #2 but the Hornets' offense was shut down by the Minutemen and Angola dropped game #2 and the tournament Champions would be decided in a tie-breaker Game #3. Hornet's won a tight game 15-11 and brought home the Tournament Champion trophy for the first time in 12-years advancing their win record to 8-0. the keys to the Hornets' success this year is the depth of the team. FAIRFIELD: **Indiana college-recruiters were present to watch a top, regular-season conference match between Angola high school Hornet’s vs state-ranked Fairfield Falcons in their first regular season NECC conference battle. Senior, outside hitter for AHS, Sam Parrish#3 posted double-doubles against the state-ranked Falcon volleyball team (17-Kills, 15-Digs). DEKALB: Angola Indiana Hornets’ volleyball team battled to victory over Dekalb high school in four games. An air of team-bonding was apparent and helped defined the team’s success. Hornet’s held together to beat Barons in their best play to date. Senior outside hitter, Sam Parrish lead her team with 17-Kills and 10-Digs. AHS 4-0 record. Recruit Reel #4. Pressure was obvious at the start of the game for senior Sam Parrish but Parrish managed to still lead her team while offering 16-Kills and 11-Digs to the team’s first victory over Columbia City since her move to varsity ball.
