Penny Hardaway High School Game Highlight – part 1/2

August 27th, 2010 by napa high

1990 Treadwell vs OakHaven High School Part 1/2 The oirginal sound is extremely low, so you’ve gotta volume your speakers up. Anfernee Deon “Penny” Hardaway (born July 18, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee) is a former American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA), specializing as a small forward, shooting guard, and point guard. His most productive years came in his days as a member of the Orlando Magic as well as the early portion of his stint with the Phoenix Suns. Hardaway was an all-NBA player early in his career, but was plagued by constant injuries which gradually reduced his effectiveness. He last played for the Miami Heat, who released him December 12, 2007. Hardaway’s nickname “Penny” came as a result of his grandmother’s southern accent in calling him “Pretty.”[1] Hardaway was raised by his grandmother while his mother was away working. His first love was football but his grandmother did not want him to get hurt. He grew up in the Binghampton neighborhood of shotgun houses in Memphis, Tennessee. As a teenager, despite his rising popularity around the city and region and, in high school, the nation, Penny continued to work as a referee of youth sports at the Memphis YMCA and played on the Memphis YOMCA Jr. Olympic basketball teams as a youth. Hardaway grew up playing basketball in Memphis for Treadwell High School, where he averaged 36.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.9 steals, and 2.8 blocks as a senior and was named

Deshawn Smith #7, I’tavious Mathers #4 Jacques Smith #22 Jes Patton #44, Tyrek Collier #5 It was Blackman’s first road game of 2009. However, it didn’t take the Blaze long to make themselves at home. Senior running back DeShawn Smith scampered 65 yards for a touchdown on Blackman’s second play from scrimmage. From there, the visiting Blaze were never threatened, coasting to a 41-0 victory over Lincoln County here Friday night at The Pit. The Blaze ground game one-upped last week’s 209-yard rushing performance against Tullahoma, tallying 322 yards in the first half alone. Three Blackman backs finished with at least 80 rushing yards, led by 131 yards on 9 carries by sophomore I’tavious Mathers. Smith finished with 128 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, while quarterback Tyrek Collier threw for a score, ran for a score and finished with 82 yards rushing on just five carries. The offensive line paved the way for 400 rushing yards on 36 carries, an 11.1 per carry average. Not to be outdone, the Blaze defense again brought its A-game. Blackman (2-0) surrendered just 51 yards in the first half and ran their scoreless quarters streak to 10, dating back to last season. After Jacques Smith’s one-yard run staked Blackman to a 14-0 lead, Lincoln County had a chance to cut into the Blaze lead. However, the Blackman defense held, Blaze senior linebacker Jason Gann stepped in front of a pass at the 4, returning it to the Blackman 10. From there, Blackman needed just six plays to
